Each spring, the Dutch landscape slowly transforms into ribbons of colour stretching gently across the land.

This painting was inspired by those wide, open fields, where rows of tulips follow the rhythm of the earth, and a quiet waterway reflects the sky. In the distance, a small windmill stands — a familiar and comforting presence, rooted in the landscape.

There is something deeply grounding about these places. The tradition of bulb growing has been passed down through generations, with knowledge, care, and patience woven into the soil over centuries. It carries a quiet sense of continuity — of seasons returning, and hands tending the land year after year.

As I painted, I found myself thinking about that gentle connection between past and present — and the simple joy of seeing colour return after winter.

This piece is intended to bring a feeling of openness and light into a space — like standing quietly at the edge of a field, with the breeze moving softly through the flowers.

This painting pairs beautifully with its companion piece, "Where the tulips meet the sky"
