Cherry Blossom & Chaffinch
I painted this beautiful scene after seeing the petals of a Cherry Blossom tree drifting like confetti on a gentle morning walk.
Lasting just a few weeks Cherry Blossom can be such a precious, fleeting delight. In Japan they hold parties under the blossom to celebrate them. This painting is a reminder to cherish and be grateful for the simplest of moments in nature throughout the seasons.
I have large families of Chaffinches in my garden that have the most cheerful, pretty song (listen here).

Magnolia & Blue Tit
This was the first tree to flower in spring in my childhood garden. Large bowl shaped white blooms, swept with a blush of pink appeared as if by magic on bare leafless branches. It always lifted my spirit after winter. I like to think of these trees as a hopeful symbol of light and beauty always coming after darker seasons.
These petite Blue Tit birds are a favourite of mine. They delight me with their sweet colours and gentle nature. They have such a cheerful, upbeat song too (listen here)

KEEP GROWING
Wisteria & Garden Warbler
There is something so enchanting about the sight of Wisteria, especially growing on the sides of an old English house. The lilac blooms cascade from twisted, wispy new branches with older stems as solid and wise as a tree.
I am always amazed by their strength, constantly growing onwards and upwards sharing this joyous display every year. Flowering as long as even 50 years they mean longevity in Japan.
Garden Warbler birds visit my garden a few times a year. Their melodic song always lifts my heart, (listen here).
