That spring feeling
Original acrylic painting on Canvas Board
SOLD — Sprng 2024

This painting was inspired by one of those small yet joyful moments that arrives with the return of spring.

The narcissus were picked from my garden just as they began to open, filling the air with their delicate scent. Their cheerful yellow petals always seem to carry the promise that the colder days are finally behind us and brighter mornings lie ahead.

I arranged them in a blue and white Cornishware jug that belonged to my Granny — a piece that holds many happy memories from my childhood. On warm summer days she would serve her homemade lemonade in this very jug, and I can still picture us making it in the kitchen while sunlight streamed through the window.

Objects like this seem to gather stories over the years, quietly holding moments of family life within them.
When I placed the freshly picked narcissus in the jug, it felt like such a perfect meeting of seasons — spring flowers bringing new life to something that already carried so much warmth and memory.

I painted this piece to capture that feeling: the simple joy of garden flowers, treasured family objects, and the gentle happiness that comes when spring begins to unfold again.
Though this painting has now been collected, I hope its story still brings a little of that “spring feeling” — fresh, bright, and full of quiet joy.
