I painted this piece while thinking about the comfort of returning to a cosy home after time spent outdoors in the cold across the wide, silent fields. ​

Displayed in a home, The Retreat brings a subtle feeling of warmth and reassurance, particularly in quieter corners — maybe by a favourite chair. It is intended as a small window into a peaceful landscape, offering a gentle reminder to slow down, rest, and savour the stillness in every season.
